The Healthy Cook

Little Tomato

A simple way of reducing unnecessary calories from your diet is to choose a cooking method that will absorb less fat. For instance you could replace frying with one of the healthier cooking techniques below:

Sauté

By using a non-stick pan you can make greasy dishes a thing of the past.

Steam

There is no healthier alternative.

Bake

Bake food in covered cookware.

Stir Fry

Use a wok to cook vegetables and meat in stock or wine.

Microwave

A fast alternative that doesn't require any additional oil.

Roast

Place your meat on a rack so it doesn't soak up fat and juices.

Grill

Again a rack will let fat drip away from your food.

Poach

Don't fry meat, poach it in boiling water instead. You'll notice the meat is softer and juicer.
