DOLMIO is proud to continue partnering with Foodbank to support people facing hardship across Australia. Through our Collaborative Supply Program with Foodbank, we’re producing dedicated jars of DOLMIO to help make sure Foodbank have a regular supply of delicious and healthy pasta sauce.

We are experiencing a societal issue of food insecurity in Australia with the latest Foodbank Hunger Report 2023, highlighting 3.7 million households in Australia experienced food insecurity in the last 12 months. That is more than the combined households in Melbourne and Sydney.*

Why Dolmio is Supporting Foodbank

At DOLMIO, we are passionate about food. We know the importance of meals shared with family and friends, and that they’re moments to be cherished.

We believe that the joy of connecting over food should be something everyone gets to enjoy. However, sadly there are an increasing number of Australians who are struggling. According to the Foodbank Hunger Report 2023(open in new tab), in the last 12 months, 77 percent of those households experiencing food insecurity did so for the first time and that 94 percent tried to manage the cost of living through shifting spend on food and grocery. This means, at the very least, they are reducing the quality, variety, or desirability of their food and at worst, their eating patterns are disrupted.*

That’s why we’re working with Foodbank to help support the work they do to help people facing hunger through our Collaborative Supply Program with Foodbank.

What is the Foodbank Collaborative Supply Program

“This fantastic collaboration ensures Foodbank warehouses across the country have a steady supply of delicious sauces for the many households doing it tough. Foodbank, works with a ‘surprise chain’ – we rely on ad hoc donations and unpredictable food rescue opportunities so it’s vital we have programs such as this one that enables us to have a consistent and predictable supply of DOLMIO products.”

– Brianna Casey (CEO of Foodbank Australia)

One of the biggest challenges faced by Foodbank is a Surprise Chain of ad hoc donations which don’t allow them to plan for regular, nutritious donations to people facing food insecurity.

Foodbank’s world leading Collaborative Supply Program is designed to tackle this by producing regular dedicated products such as pasta, cereal, bread, coffee, and canned tomatoes for the food relief organisation. It is made possible by the manufacturers and ingredient suppliers donating their specific components to produce the much need key staple.

Our Collaborative Supply Program with Foodbank is made possible thanks to our generous ingredients and packaging partners who donate their products and services. This allows us to send Foodbank a predictable supply chain of products including DOLMIO Bolognese Sauce and DOLMIO Carbonara Sauce.

Four Years of Partnership through the Collaborative Supply

Our program with Foodbank started in 2021 at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic with an ambition to help provide 600,000 meals to Australians in need. In 2022 we doubled that figure to 1.5 million meals, and in 2023 Mars Food & Nutrition delivered over 3.5 million meals to people in need across Australia – with the Foodbank Collaborative Supply Program at the heart of this work. This program will continue for the fourth year in 2024. The program will see DOLMIO and MasterFoods products delivered together with the aim of delivering 3 million meals to people in need across Australia through our Collaborative Supply Program.

Through our partnership, we’re helping Foodbank to support its registered charities, 17 Food Hubs and Mobile Pantries across Australia.

To highlight our partnership and how we work with Foodbank, we have added Foodbank’s logo to our range of DOLMIO jars with the opportunity for customers to learn more by scanning the QR code on pack.
